Some wounds hurt, sting, and then fade with time. Others sit quietly beneath the surface, hidden behind practiced strength and the facade of “I’m fine.” These are the wounds we rarely speak of- the ones wrapped in secrecy, embarrassment, or regret.
We carry them silently, sometimes avoiding them even in our own thoughts, convincing ourselves that if we never speak of them, maybe they never really happened.
But time does not heal what we refuse to acknowledge.
What I’ve learned is this: the wounds we are most ashamed of are often the very places where God is longing to meet us with unusual gentleness. With tenderness. With love.
Shame on the other hand, tell us to “forget it”, to “get over it”, or shove it down as deep as possible. But God does not rush this process of healing. He sits with us through the slow, uncomfortable layers of restoration. He does not turn away when things get raw or messy. He stays. (In fact, He never leaves)
Healing begins with honesty. You may think you’ve locked this wound away deep in your heart, but God sees it- and He isn’t waiting with judgement.
He holds compassion for you.
Healing doesn’t have to be lonely. We were never meant to carry heavy things by ourselves. Let the people who are safe, grounded, and loving help shoulder what feels unmanageable. You do not have to deal with the difficult or “ugly” things alone.
One day, the wounds you hid before will become the very bridge that connects you to someone else, guiding them toward their own healing. Leading them to full awareness of God’s love.
If your heart feels heavy with shame, take it as a holy invitation: God is ready to begin the healing you’ve been avoiding.
All praises belong to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. For He is the Father of tender mercy and the God of endless comfort. He always comes alongside us to comfort us in every suffering so that we can come alongside those who are in any painful trial. We can bring them this same comfort that God has poured out upon us. (2 Corinthians 1:3-4 TPT)
Pour out all your worries and stress upon him and leave them there, for he always tenderly cares for you. (1 Peter 5:7 TPT)
